2-3-2-Roll-2-3-2

This combination, 2-3-2-Roll-2-3-2, is an aggressive sequence that uses power shots as the entry, transitions through a crucial defensive maneuver to evade the counter, and then capitalizes on the defensive momentum to launch a powerful finishing sequence.

Phase 1: Aggressive Offensive Entry (2-3-2)

This opening sequence immediately launches with power, relying on timing or an opponent already in range, as it bypasses the traditional jab setup.

  • Straight Back Hand (2): The sequence begins immediately with the straight back hand, which is thrown with the rear (or back) hand and serves as the power punch. Its force is generated from the rotation of your hips and torso. Starting with the 2 requires a strong sense of distance and timing since the jab is not used to set it up. The arm should be extended about 90–95%, maintaining a slight bend in the elbow.
  • Front Hook (3): This lead-hand punch follows the straight. It is used to establish rhythm and attacks from a different angle. To ensure proper execution and reach, focus on extending fully by aligning the elbow with the wrist and letting the shoulder blade rotate.
  • Straight Back Hand (2): This is a rapid continuation of the sequence, used to maintain pressure on the opponent. The momentum generated from the preceding two punches assists in generating the rotational force for this final power shot. This punch is often thrown to catch the opponent as they adjust or defend the preceding hook.

Phase 2: Defensive Evasion and Coil (Roll)

After the initial offensive burst, this defensive head movement anticipates and evades the opponent’s likely counter-punch (typically a straight counter) while simultaneously setting up the return fire.

  • Roll: This defensive movement evades the opponent's anticipated counter by moving your head off the centerline. It is performed by bending your knees, lowering your level, and moving your upper body in a U-shaped motion. This is a critical movement because it loads your hips and core, coiling your body like a spring for the next attack.

Phase 3: Counter-Offense Finish (2-3-2)

This powerful counter sequence capitalizes on the momentum generated by the roll and the opponent's exposed position after missing their counter.

  • Straight Back Hand (2): Fired immediately as you come out of the roll. Because the opponent’s defense is compromised from their missed counter, the body’s momentum derived from the roll transfers directly into this shot, giving it extra snap.
  • Front Hook (3): This punch follows the straight and attacks from an angle the opponent isn't expecting.
  • Straight Back Hand (2): The combination concludes with a final power punch. This final straight back hand is thrown to catch the opponent as they turn or adjust to defend the hook, leveraging momentum from the preceding movements to generate rotational force. This concluding punch finishes the sequence with authority.
