2-3-Angle to the Front-3-Step Pivot-2

  • 2-3: The combination starts with your 2, or straight back hand, followed by a 3, the front hook. The purpose of this initial burst is to force your opponent to defend, causing them to bring their guard up and then respond with their back hand.

  • Angle to the Front: To avoid your opponent's counter, you take an angled step to your front side. For a right-handed (orthodox) boxer, this means stepping to your left. This places you at an advantageous angle on your opponent's side, where they are less able to see and defend against your next punch.

  • 3: Now that you have a new angle, you immediately throw another front hook to their chin.

  • Step Pivot-2: After landing the hook, you perform a step pivot to reset your stance. This is a crucial move that gets you out of the danger zone and back into a strong, stable position. As your opponent turns to find you, you are already loaded and ready to fire off your most powerful punch: the straight back hand down the middle to finish the combination.
