1-2 (Jab-Straight): You start with the most fundamental combination in boxing: the jab followed by the straight. The jab is a quick, lead-hand punch to measure distance and distract your opponent. The straight (your back hand) is your power punch, coming down the middle and generating force from the rotation of your hips. This initial burst forces your opponent to put their hands up and prepare for a counter.
Roll: After throwing the 1-2, you anticipate your opponent's straight counter. To evade it, you perform a roll to your back side (right for an orthodox fighter). This head movement not only gets your head off the centerline but also loads your hips and core, coiling your body like a spring for the next attack.
2 (Straight): As you come out of the roll, you immediately fire your straight back hand down the middle. Your opponent's defense will be compromised from their missed counter, leaving them open for this powerful punch. Your body's momentum from the roll transfers directly into this shot, giving it extra snap.
3 (Front Hook):Without taking a break, you follow the straight with afront hook to the head. This punch attacks from an angle your opponent isn't expecting. It’s the perfect way to finish the combination, keeping them guessing and off-balance.
