1-2-Step-Step-3-2

  • Jab (1): Start with a quick, straight jab from your lead hand. This is your range finder and setup punch.

  • Straight Back Hand (2): Immediately follow the jab with a powerful, straight punch from your rear hand. This classic 1-2 combo is the bread and butter of boxing, designed to land with authority or force a defensive reaction.

  • Step-Step: After the straight back hand, you immediately take two quick steps, also known as angles in boxing. This footwork is key. You're not just stepping back; you're stepping off to an angle, effectively turning your opponent. The goal is to get your opponent's lead foot on the inside of yours, which puts them in a less advantageous position and forces them to re-adjust.

  • Hook (3): As you complete your footwork, you are now at a new angle. You immediately launch a hook with your lead hand. This hook comes from an unexpected side, making it much harder for your opponent to see and defend against.

  • Straight Back Hand (2): You finish the combination with a final, powerful straight back hand. This is the payoff of the combo; after turning your opponent with your footwork and landing the hook, their guard and body are likely exposed, leaving them vulnerable to your strongest punch.
